A Glimmer of Hope ( The Nigerian Tale)

“I have tried my hands on so many things
But none seems to work out”
So said the man,
He was at a crossroad
He had come to the end of himself
He was on the verge of breaking down
He seemed hopeless and forlorn

This man’s consistent plight
Reminds me of a person
Whom these qualities are a euphemism for,
The average Nigerian citizen
His government has consistently failed him
He is afraid of raising his hopes
Because they have been dashed so many a time
So that they have become dashless
If only he could free himself
From all the shackles of his predicament
If only, if only, if only…

But isn’t it good to know he can’t
Because it is beyond his power
It has to do with an element of sovereignty
Where resides that sovereignty?
It is right besides this helpless fellow
The proximity closer than he could ever imagine
Closer than a hair’s breath

There is a great glimmer of hope
When one realizes the fact that -
Man’s extremities are God’s opportunities
Until a man agrees
That he has come to the end of himself
Only then will the good and great Lord
Come to the beginning of Himself

Isn’t it wonderful to note
That a man is never a failure in life
Until he admits to being one
Because his attitude will definitely portend it
But his never say die attitude
And his trust on the unfailing Lord
Will give him a smooth sail
Through the stormy seas of life’s ups and downs
………….A glimmer of hope
